Remember to check your computer for spyware!

Spyware programs install trojans and viruses on your computer, and spyware attempts to steal personal and confidential information. Spyware also generates popups and spam.

1. Here are two spyware-cleaning programs that are free:
   Ad-Aware SE Personal (current version 1.06)
   Download at http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
2. Spybot-Search & Destroy (current version 1.4)
   Download at http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Note: Keeping the current versions of freeware is important because older versions are generally not supported.

Note: Update the spyware cleaner EACH TIME time you run it.

Run at least one of the programs each week, more if you have the following symptoms.

1. Popups
2. Browser changes, such as your Start Page changes, or your browser goes where it wants to instead of where you want it to.
3. Excessively slow and sluggish computer
4. Frequent lockups on your computer

Note: Using FIREFOX as a browser provides additional protection against spyware.
